About the Role

The Laboratory Engineer Intern is responsible for gaining exposure to career opportunities within the oil and gas industry. This person discovers SLB's role in the industry and the field lifestyle associated with the job. Candidate is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable Product Service & Delivery (PSD) to customers. The Laboratory Engineer Intern supports to identify continuous improvement opportunities during service delivery, implements standard work, and manages risk during service delivery.  

  • Ensure job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Develop and gain the competency level required to perform additive selection and fluid design.
  • Ensure that laboratory equipment is in clean, working condition and that waste is regularly disposed.
  • Develop and gain the competency level required to monitor the operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Supports the Lab Manager/Engineer/Technician to perform regular audits to ensure the laboratory operates according to required standards.
  • Assist the Design/Technical Engineer and Product Champions with technical support as required.
  • Participate in Service Quality Meetings to gain knowledge to support improved performance using action plans.
  • Participate in HSE and Quality initiatives.
  • Wear PPE and observe HSE policies.
  • Maintain the required safety training.
  • Follow prescribed internship guidelines for each week as closely as possible. Note: While the opportunity for technically-trained professionals is large, these jobs are unique in their scope and responsibility and require a special kind of individual to succeed. The internship will enable the candidate and SLB determine if these requirements are met before committing to a full time job.

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Industry experience preferred
  • Specialized skills and training operating various lab equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work in faced-paced environment
