Students have the opportunity to vote or be elected into the Associated Students Board of Directors. In

doing so, candidates experience many influential events such as the campaign process to having the chance to

use their ideas to provide for the students here at SF State. Associated Students Board of Directors Elections

are held each year during the Spring Semester. During this time, officers are elected to serve as the student

government. These positions include President and Vice President, representatives of each college, and

representatives of every class.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Head Assistant to the VPs, the Assistants to the VPs support VPs in the

day-to-day activities of the office as well as helping with the preparation of committee/council meetings for

the Board of Directors. A person in this role must have experience in a busy office environment and must be

proficient in verbal and written communication with students and staff. The VP Assistant must be able to

work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

  

Essential Functions and Duties:

● Assist the VPs in the essential functions of their positions

● Posts agendas, takes minutes, update motion logs, and maintains files of all AS committees,

councils, and assemblies

● Prepares the agendas, recorder, and/or Zoom video calls for upcoming meetings

● Maintains attendance records of committee/council members with the Chief of Staff

● Sustains the upkeep and organization of the Governance Drive

● Receives in-person and phone inquiries from students, staff, and university officials regarding

AS and its programs & services and makes appropriate referrals

● Other duties and projects assigned by the Head Assistant to the VPs, Governance Specialist

Assistant, and AED of Governance to further help the efforts and duties of the VPs and the

Board of Directors

● Keeps up to date on AS programs and services as well as current projects to be able to

receive in-person and phone inquiries from students, staff, and university officials and make

appropriate referrals

  

Qualifications:   

  • Must be currently enrolled at SFSU with a minimum of 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.  
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple assignments in a busy work environment with frequent deadlines        
  • Proficient in effective communication both verbally and in writing        
  • PC, Mac, and Google Drive literate        
  • Experienced in taking minutes for meetings a plus        
  • Knowledge/familiarity of SF University campus a plus
