Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): 

The Advancement Supervisor is a leadership position in the Student Outreach Center. Using fundraising-software Raise and Gratavid, the Student Outreach Center engages alumni and parents through email, text, video message, and written letters to cultivate, solicit, and acknowledge financial gifts to the college. Advancement Supervisors lead a team of fellow student-workers (Advancement Fellows) in these efforts. This includes managing work, conduct, and attendance during shifts, training new employees, and acting as a liaison between the Advancement Fellows and the annual fund staff.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise shifts to ensure that all advancement fellows are on-time and on-task, adhering to student outreach center procedures and policies during shifts

  • Train and mentor new and returning Advancement Fellows

  • Craft and send verbal and written messages to alumni and parents, utilizing the St. Olaf style guide and guidance from St. Olaf Fund staff in a timely manner

  • Communicate with the Student Outreach Manager with questions, comments, or incidents that arise during shifts.

  • Problem solve and proactively handle unique or difficult situations during shifts

  • Organize, clean, and decorate the Student Outreach Center work-area

  • Accurately log and record communications, including responses

  • Educate others about the importance of engaging and giving back to St. Olaf

  • Identify opportunities for alumni and parents to get involved with St. Olaf’s priorities

  • Maintain awareness of events and opportunities on campus and in the alumni/parent community off campus

  • Maintain confidentiality


Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

Advancement Supervisors must have at least one semester of Advancement Fellow experience or similar experience.
