Summary of Position:

The Meridian Center for Corporate Diplomacy team develops and implements programs, events, and engagement opportunities that connect the private sector with global leaders and diplomatic stakeholders. To facilitate this mission, Meridian receives funding support from FedEx to provide an internship within the department. The intern is an integral member of the team, supporting corporate engagement initiatives through research, program and event coordination, stakeholder tracking, database management, and the development of briefing and communications materials for Meridian's Corporate Council and broader corporate community.


This position is located in Washington D.C. and Meridian requires MD, DC, or VA residence for all employees. The position may work partially remotely until further notice. 

Requirements

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of Center for Corporate Diplomacy programs and events, including Global Business Briefings and the Corporate Diplomacy Global Leaders Program, through assembling materials, creating thematic and topical briefs, and drafting summaries for the Meridian website.
  • Support the development, implementation, administration, and performance tracking of Corporate Council Working Groups, including maintaining and updating thematic tracks and related program materials.
  • Research and develop briefing materials for stakeholder meetings on topics related to corporate diplomacy, international trade, economics, foreign policy, and other issues relevant to Meridian’s work.
  • Maintain and update the Corporate Council Partner Directory to ensure accurate partner and stakeholder records.
  • Maintain information in Salesforce to support donor engagement, event management, and corporate donor prospecting efforts.
  • Complete organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • An undergraduate or graduate student in international studies or a related field, or the equivalent in experience 
  • Any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • A highly motivated self-starter with superb communication and organizational skills, and high attention to detail 
  • A team player with the ability to follow through on long-term projects and to work independently 
  • Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world
  • Commit 20-29 hours per week to the internship 
  • Be fluent in verbal and written English
  • Maintain residency in the DC, MD, or VA area

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams is necessary for this role
  • Experience with Canva, Zoom and Salesforce is helpful
