POSITION/ROLE OVERVIEW
The New School’s College of Performing Arts is seeking three to four highly qualified Temporary New York String Orchestra Seminar Interns to support The New School Concerts Department’s 2026 New York String Orchestra Seminar (NYSOS). Reporting to the Director of New School Concerts, during the eleven days of the NYSOS, and two paid advanced training sessions to be scheduled around intern availability, interns will learn administrative and operations skills related to arts administration through hands-on experiences and small group discussions during the nationally acclaimed pre-professional orchestral training program.
For more than twenty years, the New York String Orchestra Seminar has offered internships for students interested in learning about operations, programming, and finance in the non-profit live music performance field. This internship is an ideal experiential learning opportunity for those pursuing studies in arts management; student musicians considering transitioning to music administration; and those who intend to pursue entrepreneurial-hybrid careers combining roles as creative artists and administrators. NYSOS interns stay in the same accommodations, and share meals with the members of the Orchestra; local transportation costs are included. Interns must pay for and arrange their own transportation to and from New York City. Visit https://www.newschool.edu/new-york-string-orchestra-seminar for more information about the New York String Orchestra Seminar.
This is an FLSA nonexempt hourly (up to 35hrs/week) with a desired start date of November 30, 2026, and an end date of December 31, 2026.

College of Performing Arts students are actors, musicians, performers, writers, improvisers, creative technologists, entrepreneurs, composers, arts managers, and multidisciplinary artists.
