Position: Chemistry Laboratory Assistant

Schedule: Full academic year, 2 hours in lab, 1 hour weekly meeting with lab preparation, 2 hours marking assignments and reports/5 hours per week

Chemistry Laboratory Assistant

This position requires the worker to assist students during the scheduled laboratory period, assist the instructor with marking pre-laboratory assignments and laboratory reports attend weekly lab assistant meetings, prepare materials needed for labs, and clean equipment and glassware. Laboratory assistants are also responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the laboratory after each assigned section and notifying instructor of any depletion of materials. 

Workers must adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (safety goggles, gloves, lab coats) and monitor all students in the lab for adherence to safety protocols.

Workers assisting with CEM 113, CEM 153, and CEM 154 labs must have completed CEM 153 and CEM 154 (or equivalents) with a B or higher.

 Required Credentials

  • Experience required: Successful completion of CEM 151/152 with labs (or equivalent) with a B or higher
  • Experience preferred: Successful completion of CEM 231/232 with labs (or equivalent) with a B or higher
  • Education required: Sophomore standing
  • Education Preferred: Junior standing
