What do we actually make at NTS?

We make metal parts for companies that build machines. For example, machines that make chips, and chips are in your phone, your laptop, your PlayStation, and in the computers running AI. Without our parts, those machines would stop. We work in microns, which are thousandths of a millimeter. Just to give you an idea: a hair is about 70 microns thick, and for our parts, a dimension can sometimes only be a few microns off.

What does your week look like? You will follow the VIP Machining program at TechnicNoord. This is a collaboration between Firda mbo College in Drachten and several technical companies in the region. NTS Drachten is one of those companies, and you will work with us. Two days a week, you will go to school at Firda in Drachten. There, you will learn the theory and work in a modern practice room. You will also visit other companies to see how they do things.

Three days a week, you will work at NTS Drachten. You are not alone. You will have your own mentor and you will learn the trade from colleagues who have been doing it for years. You can always ask questions. The best part? You get paid for all five days, even the days you are at school.

What will you learn:

• Making parts with CNC machines (computer-controlled) and with regular turning and milling machines;

• Working with measuring tools so you can check your work yourself;

• Writing programs for CNC machines, testing, and improving them;

• Reading technical drawings and understanding exactly what is required;

• Thinking about how something can be done smarter, faster, or better.

Does this suit you?

You don't need to know anything yet. You will learn it here. We are mainly looking for someone who:

• Enjoys making things with machines and tools;

• Obtains or has a diploma at the vmbo, mavo, or mbo level;

• Is curious, works neatly, and likes to ask questions.

Never done anything with technology before? No problem. We start with an introductory interview, a talent scan, and a practical assignment. This way, you will also discover if this is right for you.

What you will get from us:

• Monthly salary for a full workweek of five days;

• An mbo diploma at level 3, with small classes and lots of personal attention;

• Your own mentor at NTS Drachten to guide you;

• Over 40 days off per year with a full-time position;
