About The Company
Generac is the total energy solutions company powering a smarter world. We help free people to use energy on their own terms by giving them access to reliable energy that is also cleaner, more efficient and better managed. We do this by making homes a sanctuary where people have reliable power so they can safely and comfortably work, learn and entertain. Around the world, our commercial and industrial solutions are trusted to power and support businesses and critical infrastructure to protect against the challenges of an aging power grid, increasingly severe weather and escalating energy demands and rising rates.  As an industry pioneer, we are relentlessly focused on the future of energy management. We’re ushering in a new era of energy solutions where we are exploring new technologies, delivering connected solutions and protecting against increasing energy costs for consumers and commercial users.
About the Role

Hi, we are ecobee.

ecobee introduced the world’s first smart Wi-Fi thermostat to help millions of consumers save money, conserve energy, and bring home automation into their lives. That was just the beginning. We continue our pursuit to create technology that brings peace of mind into the home and allows people to focus on the moments that matter most. We take pride in making a meaningful difference to the environment, all while being part of the exciting, connected home revolution.

In 2021, ecobee became a subsidiary of Generac Power Systems. Generac introduced the first affordable backup generator and later created the category of automatic home standby generator. The company is committed to sustainable, cleaner energy products poised to revolutionize the 21st century electrical grid. Together, we take pride in making a meaningful difference to the environment.

Why we love to do what we do:

We’re helping build the world of tomorrow with solutions that improve everyday life while making a positive impact on the planet. Our products and services work in harmony to provide comfort, efficiency, and peace of mind for millions of homes and businesses. While we’re proud of what we’ve done so far, there’s still a lot we can do—and you can be part of it.

Join our extraordinary team.

We're a rapidly growing global tech company headquartered in Canada, in the heart of downtown Toronto, with an office in Leeds, UK, and remote ecopeeps in the US. We get to work with some of North America and UK's leading professionals. Our colleagues are proud to bring their authentic selves to work, confident that what we do is grounded in a greater purpose. We’re always looking for curious, talented, and passionate people to join our team.

The role:

We are looking for an AI Productivity & Adoption Engineering Intern to help us build AI solutions for ecobee employees. You will work alongside colleagues across the company to understand their workflows, then build agents and automated tools that make their work better. You will also contribute to the enablement programs and resources that help others across the organization develop their own AI capabilities.

This is a hands-on role. You will spend most of your time building, testing, and iterating on solutions in collaboration with the teams who use them.

How You'll Make an Impact:

- Partner with teams across ecobee to understand their day-to-day workflows and identify where AI tools can make a meaningful difference

- Build and iterate on AI agents and automated workflows to address those needs, using tools such as the Claude, MS Copilot, Gemini

- Test solutions with the colleagues who will use them, gather feedback, and iterate until the solution is genuinely useful

- Document what you build so it can be maintained, replicated, and handed off

- Contribute to enablement resources including playbooks, prompt libraries, and technical guides that help other ecobee employees build their own AI capabilities

- Track adoption and outcomes and contribute to reporting on what is working

What You Bring to the Table:

- Prior experience building with AI tools: a personal agent, an automated workflow,  or direct API calls to an LLM. A formal software engineering background is not required, but you need hands-on experience and the ability to keep building independently.

- Comfortable working with code at a practical level: Python scripts, API calls, prompt templates. Able to read and navigate a GitHub repo.

- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly for non-technical audiences

- Comfort working with data: pulling together a dataset, building a basic dashboard, or summarizing what the numbers indicate

- Self-directed and organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work through ambiguity

- Currently pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, information management, or a related field
