About The Company
Coreso is the Regional Coordination Service Centre subsidiary of 50Hertz Transmission (Germany), EirGrid (Ireland), Elia (Belgium), National Grid ESO (United Kingdom), REE (Spain), REN (Portugal), RTE (France), Terna (Italy) and SONI (Northern Ireland). The area monitored by Coreso's Brussels-based technical coordination centre covers 275 million customers, some 54% of the European Union’s population. Coreso started its operations in February 2009 and is the first joint technical coordination centre owned by several transmission system operators. Coreso has delivered substantial improvements in operational coordination between transmission grids in response to new challenges. The growth of renewable energy sources – characterized by their variable output - coupled with the rise in cross-border exchanges in the European electricity market, are leading to increasing fluctuation in power flows. Coreso has developed a high degree of reliability and expertise. On several occasions, Coreso demonstrated its value by identifying in the electrical system risk situations that are only detectable by an overall sharing, beyond the national perimeter of each individual transmission network. In practice, Coreso provides the control centres of participating TSOs with detailed forecasts of network security in this extended coverage zone, by producing security analyses, simulating a range of different scenarios and suggesting coordinated measures. Coreso coordinates exchanges between the national control centres, which remain operationally responsible on their respective networks.
About the Role

Embark on an exciting journey with Coreso, a dynamic and fast-paced company at the forefront of the European energy landscape. As a Regional Coordination Center (RCC), Coreso plays a crucial role in coordinating high-voltage electricity flows for European Transmission System Operators (TSOs), ensuring the security of electricity supply on a regional basis.

Your new career in Coreso

Coreso, a Regional Coordination Center  (RCC) based in Brussels, plays a key role in ensuring the stability and security of Europe’s electricity system. Every day, our international team collaborates with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) across Europe to manage cross-border power flows and support the energy transition.

To support our mission, we are looking for a data analytics Intern to join our Operations team, with a focus on improving how information is treated and visualized in the coordination room. In an environment where operators in the coordination room deal with a variety of information and different types of data, visualization tools become increasingly important, especially when identifying data-quality issues observed in operational processes and improving data interactions with TSOs.

Let us give you a preview of your internship!

As a trainee and team member of our Operations Support Staff (OSS), you will be in direct link with the Data & Tools team. With your communication and attention skills, and with the support of Coreso colleagues, you are responsible for the development and implementation of data treatment and visualization tools, taking into consideration

Coreso's operational environment and IT infrastructure. Your objectives will consist of the following:

  • Gather and understand the business needs of the tools to be developed

  • Propose solutions for both data treatment and visualization

  • Develop the tool with comprehensive documentation

  • Ensure the tool effectively addresses data-quality issues and enhances data interactions with TSOs

You will be part of a collaborative team where you will be supported by experienced engineers. Together, you will propose potential solutions and technology, benefiting from the collective expertise and guidance of your colleagues.
