About the Role

The Opportunity:

As a participant in the Gold Fields Vacation Student Program, you will gain practical exposure to the day-to-day operation of a gold processing plant within a leading mining business. Working alongside experienced metallurgists, operators, maintenance and technical teams, you will build insight into how processing plants are operated, monitored and optimised to support safe, stable and efficient gold production.The program provides an opportunity to apply your university studies in a real-world processing environment while building the technical, professional and problem-solving skills needed for a successful career. Through hands-on site exposure and operational experience, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of gold processing operations and the role your discipline plays in delivering safe and sustainable outcomes

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Commencing your second year or above of your tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy and/ or Chemical Engineering.
  • Hold a C Class Manual Driver’s License.
  • Able to obtain National Police Clearance.
  • Exposure and/or experience in a mineral processing environment would be highly regarded.
  • Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in remote locations on an 8&6 fly in, fly out roster.

 

About the Role:

  • Gain broad exposure to metallurgical and processing activities across Gold Fields’ Australian gold operations, supporting safe, stable and efficient plant performance.
  • Learn about key areas of gold processing, including crushing, grinding, leaching, gold recovery and tailings.
  • Develop practical experience in plant inspections, sampling, testwork, data review, production reporting and performance monitoring.
  • Work alongside metallurgists, operators, maintenance teams, laboratory personnel and other site-based professionals.
