About the Role

The Opportunity:

As a participant in the Gold Fields Vacation Student Program, you will gain valuable exposure to the day-to-day operations of a leading mining business. Throughout the Summer, you’ll work alongside experienced technical professionals, developing practical skills and firsthand insight into the gold mining industry. The program provides a unique opportunity to apply the knowledge gained through your university studies in a real-world setting, while building the technical, professional, and problem-solving capabilities needed for a successful career. Through meaningful project involvement and on-site experience, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of mining operations and the role your discipline plays in delivering safe and sustainable outcomes.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Current driver’s licence (ideally manual license or with desire to obtain it in the future)
  • In progress of completing your Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering or similar
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
  • Comfortable working 12 hour shifts in remote locations on a fly in, fly out roster

 

About the Role:

  • Broad exposure to various mining engineering activities across Gold Fields’ Australian operations, supporting operational planning, drill & blast, production activities and technical project work.
  • Learn about a range of discipline specific tasks that support safe, efficient, and responsible mining outcomes while developing practical skills and professional capability.
  • Observe professionals across key mining functions, including mine planning, geology, survey, drill & blast and operational leadership, gaining insight into how each area contributes to overall site performance.
