The Hatch Vacation Student Program provides the opportunity to work on real projects and gain practical industry skills. We will help you through the transition, bridging the gap between your education and career.

As part of the Mining Team, you will work alongside experienced mining engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver innovative solutions across the mining industry. Our team supports clients throughout the entire project lifecycle, from scoping and conceptual studies through to pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning, and operational optimisation. You will have the opportunity to contribute to mine design, mine planning, materials handling systems, ventilation studies, equipment selection, and technical evaluations while gaining exposure to both local and global mining projects. You bring to the role:

You will be working towards a bachelor/master’s degree in Mining Engineering, ideally in your third year (or later) of study, with a strong academic record. Candidates will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and will be collaborators with the ability to think laterally and innovatively to solve problems. You will also have an interest in exploring a future with a global consulting company and are committed to creating positive change.

The 12-week program commences on Monday, 23 Nov 2026. Please note, during this time Hatch will have its annual office closure from COB Friday, 18 December 2026 and will reopen Monday, 4 January 2027.
