What You'll Do
The Counselor Internship provides supervised experience within Children, Youth, and Family Services. Working alongside experienced caseworkers, you'll observe, assist, and participate in case management activities while developing the professional skills needed for a career in human services.
Your responsibilities may include:
Case Management & Client Support
Shadow caseworkers during client services and case management activities.
Assist with home visits, court appearances, and family meetings.
Participate in supervised client interactions.
Supervise family visitation.
Transport youth and parents to appointments.
Documentation & Professional Collaboration
Complete and document contacts with parents, collateral providers, and other professionals.
Review case files, reports, and supporting documentation.
Observe case staffing and treatment planning.
Attend team meetings, consultations, and group supervision.
Assessment & Community Services
Assist with child abuse and neglect assessments.
Observe client assessments and case planning.
Help connect families with community resources and support services.
Learn how services are coordinated across community agencies.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited university's approved program.
Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Physical examination, including TB and drug screening.
State Police, FBI, and Child Abuse clearances.
Successful completion of background, reference, and driving record checks.
Basic computer proficiency.
Schedule
Internship
Monday–Friday schedule with occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours as needed.
