About the Role

Location: Avery Island, LA (on-site)

Craving an exciting internship? LIGHT IT UP! We’re looking for an Archives Intern who is detail-oriented and has a passion for local history and culture. If you’re eager for a delicious internship and want to become an Archives Intern for McIlhenny Company, makers of TABASCO® Brand Products, then, we want to hear from you!

In this role, you’ll do things like: 

  • Assist the company Historian in cataloguing, preserving, and interpreting historical and archival data and artifacts for ease of retrieval; Assist in gathering requested data or material for the company/family
  • Assist the company Historian as required in presenting to visitors the history of the TABASCO® brand, the McIlhenny family and company, and Avery Island in general
  • Assist the company Historian in maintaining exhibits in the TABASCO® Museum and the Visitors Center 
  • Perform administrative/clerical functions, i.e., proofread/edit various short documents prepared by the Archives
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Must-haves to apply: 

  • Currently attending college and pursuing a major or minor in History.
  • Be able to work 10-20 hours a week 
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail

What will give you an edge:

  • Be a Junior or Senior History major
  • Be pursuing a graduate or post baccalaureate degree in History

Pay:  $15.00/hour
