About The Company
EAGLES is a comprehensive transition program (CTP) for students with intellectual disabilities. The program provides a postsecondary education opportunity for students with intellectual disabilities to engage in a two or four-year campus experience. It is a non-degreed program focusing on (1) academic enrichment, (2) personal and social skills, (3) independence, (4) health and wellness, and (5) integrated work experiences. Students in the program receive an inclusive post-secondary education providing them with an enriching and rewarding Auburn experience as they prepare to transition to gainful employment, that aligns with the student’s strengths and interests and independent living. The EAGLES program operates to enable students to be contributing members of society both now and in the future.
About the Role
Overview

Auburn University Outreach is seeking a creative, motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate student to serve as an Student Outreach Community Writer. This student position will support the division's communications and marketing efforts by researching, writing and promoting stories that highlight the impact of Auburn University's outreach, engagement and service initiatives across Alabama and beyond.

 

The Outreach Community Writer will work closely with the Communications and Marketing team to create compelling content for news articles, feature stories, newsletters, publications and social media platforms.


Responsibilities

  • Research, interview and gather information for news stories, feature articles and community impact stories.

  • Write engaging content that communicates Auburn Outreach's mission, programs, partnerships and impact.

  • Draft and edit copy for communications.

  • Proofread content for grammar, spelling, accuracy, consistency and Auburn AP style.

  • Assist with the creation of social media content and promotional messaging.

  • Attend Outreach events as needed to gather information, conduct interviews and develop content.

  • Collaborate with Outreach staff, faculty, students and community partners to identify story and spotlight opportunities.

  • Contribute creative ideas to support communications campaigns and storytelling efforts.

  • Meet assigned deadlines and manage multiple writing projects simultaneously.

  • Complete research and gather information.
  • Great written communication skills.
  • Experience with social media.
