About the Role
Job DetailsJob Location: LAKEVIEW RECREATION CENTER - PEORIA, IL 61614Position Type: InternshipSalary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 HourlyDuties: Under the supervision of the Manager of Athletic & Recreation Services, the Athletics Intern is responsible for the following:
Serve as the League Coordinator, responsible for being the main contact and direct representative of the assigned sports program.
Oversee registration, coach team selection, and pre-season meetings.
Develop goals and objectives for their experience and evaluate them at the conclusion of the internship.
Assist in the inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment.
Assist the coaches in the setup/tear-down of practices and games.
Prepare records and reports including payroll, league/event schedules, evaluations, and marketing materials.
All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned.
Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Prolong standing, bending and stooping.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Safety precautions typical of the sports and fitness industry.
QualificationsEducation: Status as a current high school or college undergrad student (Sept 2026 - Dec 2026). Must be at least 16 years old. This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.
Knowledge and Ability:
Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule.
Display an understanding of the philosophy of recreation and sports programs. Some knowledge of sports skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with private organizations and special interest groups.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
