The Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department is responsible for the mechanical design, development, and integration of critical defense platform systems. This includes radar and communications shelters, electronic subsystems, launchers, hardware integration, and system interconnects.


We are currently seeking a motivated and driven Mechanical Engineer intern to join our Ground Equipment Design Team. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, mechanical hardware design experience, system integration skills, and a strong background in program execution and production support. As a key contributor on a mechanical or cross-functional engineering team, you will be responsible for component and assembly modeling, documentation, design changes, and release processes.

What You Will Do

  • Train and apply RTX tools including CREO and PDM.
  • Provide design and documentation support using engineering tools, Adobe, and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Perform engineering change and drawing release activities.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and diverse teams.
  • Conduct analytical and technical engineering work within a program environment, including presenting designs when needed.
  • Receive training on Raytheon processes and procedures.


What You Will Learn

  • Mechanical hardware design methods and best practices.
  • System integration approaches for radar, communications shelters, electronic subsystems, launchers, and hardware interconnects.
  • Use of RTX design, documentation, and configuration tools (CREO, PDM, Adobe, etc.).
  • Raytheon engineering processes, release workflows, and program execution fundamentals.
  • Collaboration techniques within cross‑functional engineering teams.
     

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects

Qualifications We Prefer

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Office or other presentation tools

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
