About the Role

Job Description

This is an internship, up to 20 hours per week. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the manufacturing engineer and assembly technician creating processes, building, and testing Cognex products assembled, inspected or tested in Aachen. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Perform assembly and test functions with fixtures for cameras in a timely fashion and in accordance with the defined procedures. 

  • Assist in updating procedures to be used by technicians or the contract manufacturer 

  • Use automated test equipment and specialized fixtures, to perform function test procedures. Enter results in the applicable quality database. 

  • The ability to recognize, document, and escalate test and quality related issues for both product and process. 

  • Perform unit inspections and minor repairs when necessary. 

  • Assist in minor troubleshooting, inspection, and material support. 

  • Assist manufacturing engineering team with BOM changes, drawing updates, qualification/deviation requests as needed to manage the supply chain with Cognex suppliers 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Able to work individually or in a group/team environment with flexible work conditions 

  • Able to interpret BOMs, process flows, work instructions, deviations and purges 

  • Proficient in PC quality data entry, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint preferred  

Minimum education and work experience required 

  • Pursuing a degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or mechatronics engineering
