CSMC has two fully owned subsidiaries, CSMC Nuclear and CSMC Labs. CSMC Nuclear is building safe and portable nuclear reactors for the most remote environments. CSMC Labs is an R&D division, developing and commercializing deep-tech in quantum and natural resources.
About the Role

The Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation is a space and defence company focused on developing dual-use solutions for delivering unmatched capabilities on this planet and others. CSMC is developing a micro nuclear reactor for remote applications like the arcticdefence, and space exploration. Led by a team with a mix of entrepreneurial and institutional experience at the highest level, we are a bleeding edge company, working at the intersection of energy, geology/geophysics, health technologies, space systems, and imagineering.

We're not gonna do it alone though, and we're hiring a Computer Science Intern. You will work directly with engineering leads, scientists, and crossfunctional project teamsThe position will support activities including but not limited to software development, data analysis, research, preparation of technical presentations, support for design processes, project coordination, technical documentation management, and contributing to internal reports. The role will involve facets of project management, documentation, risk tracking, technical research, market awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain high-reliability software modules for space and defense systems.
  • Develop AI/ML pipelines and advanced data processing algorithms to ingest, clean, and analyze telemetry and sensor data streams
  • Conduct simulations, testing, and iterative improvements to ensure algorithm robustness and accuracy in, e.g., diverse geological environments.
  • Coordinate project tasks, timelines, meetings, action items, and cross-functional communication to support smooth project execution.
  • Track progress, dependencies, and risks, and help identify practical mitigation actions.
  • Maintain organized project and technical documentation, including design specifications, methodologies, drawings, reports, and project records.
  • Support data analysis, technical reporting, presentations, and continuous improvement activities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items to ensure timely completion.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments and advancements in the space/defense industry and related technologies.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Essential

  • Currently pursuing a 4th year of Bachelor's or a Masters, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming foundations in, e.g., Python, with a demonstrated ability to write clean, efficient, and well-tested code.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of core computer science principles, such as data structures, algorithms, systems programming, and multithreading
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to bridge theoretical science (e.g., physics, signal processing) with practical software implementation.
  • Academic coursework or projects related to project management, technical documentation, data analysis, or reporting are advantageous.
  • Scientific background is an asset, particularly in geophysics and quantum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively within crossfunctional teams.
  • Highly detailoriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in documentation and reporting.

Employment Eligibility
