About the Role

Mission

As a Wholesale Banking Intern, you will gain hands-on exposure to the world of corporate and institutional banking while supporting client-facing teams across various Wholesale Banking activities. You will contribute to strategic client initiatives, market analyses, financing processes, and business development activities, helping deliver value to some of the bank's most important corporate clients.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your analytical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

About the Team

You will join ING's Wholesale Banking division, a team dedicated to serving large corporates, multinational companies, financial institutions, and public sector clients. Working alongside Relationship Managers, Lending Specialists, Transaction Services, Financial Markets professionals, and Sector Experts, you will gain insight into the diverse products and solutions that help clients achieve their financing, treasury, and strategic objectives.

Our team combines deep industry expertise with a client-centric approach, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. As an intern, you will be exposed to multiple areas of the business and have the opportunity to understand how different teams work together to deliver tailored solutions for clients.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Conduct market, sector and company research, gathering insights from internal and external sources

  • Assist in preparing client presentations, pitch books, market updates, commercial proposals and other business development materials

  • Support Relationship Managers and Product Teams with day-to-day client-related activities and requests

  • Support the preparation of credit applications, financing proposals, annual reviews, loan documentation and client offers

  • Collaborate with colleagues from Lending, Financial Markets, Transaction Services and Sector teams throughout the deal and client management process

  • Help monitor client portfolios and contribute to internal analyses and management reporting

  • Maintain and update market data, pipelines, reports, and internal dashboards

  • Assist in tracking ongoing transactions and business opportunities while ensuring documentation and internal processes are completed accurately and on time

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and analyses, gaining exposure to a broad range of Wholesale Banking products, transactions and client segments

  • Develop a strong understanding of ING's Wholesale Banking business model, products and client coverage approach.

What you bring to the team

  • Currently pursuing a BSc/ MSc in Economics, Finance, Banking, Law, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field.

  • Strong interest in corporate finance, banking, financial markets, and business development

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail

  • Ability to work with data, conduct research, and synthesize information into clear conclusions

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint

  • Collaborative mindset, proactive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced professionals.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
