Physical Therapist Intern

Essential Functions of the Physical Therapist assistant Intern:  The intern will shadow a Physical Therapist.  The intern will assist with participate in the following:

  • Conduct direct physical therapy treatments to address deficits and meet treatment goals.  
  • For those receiving direct physical therapy services, provide objective information in order to re-assess at least quarterly to determine effectiveness of the treatment plan and the continued need for services.  
  • When applicable, develop, train and monitor Physical Support Plans.  
  • Participate in regularly scheduled wheelchair and orthotics clinics that are held on grounds.  
  • Develop home programs including exercise, standing and positioning.  
  • Provide consultation and in-service training with staff.  
  • Ensure proper documentation of services.   
  • Provide supports to facilitate individuals achieving their personal goals. 
  • Learn and follow all policies and procedures. 
  • Must comply with all aspects of the Strategic Plan. 
  • Shall provide individualized services to meet the treatment needs of each of the specialty intermediate care (IC) clinic patients for services in field of care.  Shall meet requirements of 902 KAR 20:410 Specialty Intermediate Care Clinics as warranted.

Qualifications:  Must be currently attending an accredited school working towards a degree in Physical Therapy or related field.
