Gain practical experience in civil engineering with our team as a Civil Engineer Co-op. In this role, you'll work alongside early career and experienced engineers to gain an understanding of civil infrastructure design and consulting. You'll gain hands-on experience while developing technical skills and problem-solving abilities that will create a foundation for your career.

What You’ll Do

  • Under the direction of experienced technical staff, you’ll learn design analysis skills for a variety of civil engineering design projects for local or state clients
  • Projects may include urban or rural roadway design, structural design, inspection, drainage design and surveying
  • Assist engineers with project design and drawing, such as developing construction plans, cost estimates, and specifications using design tools such as AutoCAD or Microstation
  • Assist with field work or construction related services including construction observation, shop drawing reviews, response to requests for information, and perform field inspections, as needed

Skills & Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student in good academic standing pursing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program and completion of one year coursework required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to learn PDF markup/review tools, such as BlueBeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to learn AutoCAD or Microstation design software packages, direct experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate, learn, and grow
  • Availability to work full-time {{Season and Year}} Semester
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record; some travel may be required

Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 30 – 40 hours per week. Housing and transportation to/from work is the responsibility of the co-op, parking is provided.
