OBJECTIVE / ACCOUNTABILITY
The Marketing Intern is a hands-on learning opportunity for students interested in marketing, communications, business, graphic design, digital media, or horticulture. Working alongside our Marketing team, you'll gain practical experience in digital marketing, content creation, brand management, social media, and marketing communications while supporting initiatives that strengthen customer engagement and promote our products and services. This internship is designed to build professional marketing skills, strengthen creative and business knowledge, and provide meaningful, real-world experience through collaboration, continuous learning, and hands-on projects. The program may be tailored to align with both the intern's interests and the company's business needs, providing exposure to multiple departments and career paths within the green industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing Operations
- Assist with daily marketing activities and department initiatives
- Support updates to company and branded websites
- Maintain inventories of promotional materials and branded giveaways
- Learn and utilize company marketing systems and processes
- Support additional marketing projects and campaigns as assigned
Creative Design & Content
- Learn and utilize Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)
- Assist with updating marketing collateral, promotional materials, signage, and other communications
- Edit photographs and other visual assets for print and digital marketing
- Support the development of creative materials that align with company branding standards
Digital Marketing & Communications
- Assist with the development and distribution of email marketing campaigns
- Gather content and coordinate with internal contributors to develop marketing communications
- Maintain contact lists and digital marketing assets
- Organize and maintain the marketing photo library
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, accurate marketing content
Social Media
- Assist with managing company social media platforms by creating and publishing engaging content
- Capture photographs and coordinate visual content for marketing campaigns
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop content ideas and promotional campaigns
- Monitor engagement metrics and provide basic performance reporting
- Support brand awareness through consistent, professional social media communications
Product Knowledge
- Participate in scheduled nursery walks to build plant knowledge
- Learn about plant varieties, seasonal availability, and industry trends
- Support marketing efforts by promoting featured products and trending plants
Business & Professional Development
- Learn about the company's history, culture, products, and the horticulture industry
- Participate in meaningful internship projects that support business objectives
- Establish and work toward personal and professional development goals
- Collaborate with fellow interns to develop and deliver a presentation highlighting the internship experience
- Build professional relationships through networking and mentorship opportunities
Team & Business Support
- Cross-train with other departments to gain a broader understanding of company operations
- Support team initiatives and departmental projects as assigned
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, company events, and the KASH interview process
- Contribute to a collaborative, values-driven team environment while demonstrating safe work practices
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred but not required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Strong commitment to teamwork, customer service, and delivering high-quality work
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCES
