Since its founding in 1997, NESsT has supported hundreds of social enterprises that have improved the lives of millions of people around the world. 

Position Overview 

NESsT is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support the organization’s accounting, finance, and operational processes in Brazil. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in nonprofit financial management, accounting procedures, compliance, and internal controls while working as part of an international organization. 

This temporary internship will last approximately 2 to 3 months, with a commitment of 20 hours per week. The intern will work closely with the Operations Manager and gain hands-on experience supporting day-to-day accounting and financial operations. 

Responsibilities 

The Accounting Intern will support a variety of administrative, financial, and accounting tasks, including: 

  • Organizing and maintaining accounting and financial records. 
  • Assisting with the review and filing of invoices, receipts, contracts, and supporting documentation. 
  • Supporting basic account reconciliations and verification of financial information. 
  • Assisting with data entry and tracking in spreadsheets and internal systems. 
  • Supporting the preparation of financial and operational reports. 
  • Assisting with audit preparation and compliance-related activities. 
  • Helping improve document organization and financial record management processes. 
  • Supporting special projects and other operational tasks as assigned. 

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Accounting (Ciências Contábeis). 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong sense of responsibility and willingness to learn. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment. 
  • Proficiency in English. 

Preferred: 

  • Interest in nonprofit organizations and social impact initiatives. 
  • Previous academic or professional exposure to accounting, finance, or administration. 
  • Intermediate Excel skills. 

Learning Opportunities

The intern will gain practical exposure to nonprofit financial operations, internal controls, compliance, and the working environment of a global nonprofit organization. 

    Compensation and Conditions 

    • Duration: 2–3 months. 
    • Schedule: 20 hours per week. 
    • Location: Remote, Brazil. 
    • Monthly stipend: BRL 1,200–1,500. 
    • Start date: As soon as possible.
