Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support the monitoring and administration of SOFF Readiness phase outputs in coordination with the WMO Technical Authority.
2. Assist in monitoring and reporting on the implementation of SOFF Readiness and Investment phase including:
• Supporting of progress report analysis to ensure efficient monitoring of SOFF implementation
• Supporting the review process of the Investment funding requests including related processes through the UNMPTF Gateway platform
• Supporting the tracking of implementation progress and key reporting requirements
• Compiling and providing operational data and information to the SOFF team
3. Assist in maintaining and updating the SOFF Operations Database and SOFF Learning platform.
4. Provide overall support to SOFF operational activities as required.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s in Meteorology, Environmental Science, Climate, Disaster Risk Management, International Relations or a related field. A master's is considered an advantage.
Experience:
• Strong writing and communication skills in English.
• Experience working on climate change related projects or programmes.
• Experience working on development projects or climate finance, especially in developing countries is an advantage.
• Experience working in international contexts.
Other Requirements:
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Interest in climate change, meteorology, or international development is an advantage.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) would be an advantage.
Additional Information:
Anticipated Start Date: Mid-September, 2026
Learning component of the internship:
The internship will offer an opportunity for a young professional to gain experience working for a specialized climate fund and overseeing aspects of portfolio management. The internship will also offer experience working for a United Nations specialized agency and specifically on climate finance.
