Business Descriptor:

HSBC’s Asset & Wealth Management is primarily responsible for driving mutual fund sales through distributor networks and client relationships, while ensuring compliance and delivering market insights to advisors and investors.

Core responsibilities

  • Distributor & IFA channel development: Build and manage relationships with banks, independent financial advisors (IFAs), and national distributors; expand the IFA network and deepen penetration in the assigned region.
  • Sales targets & AUM growth: Own quarterly/annual sales budgets, focus on assets under management (AUM) growth, and meet/exceed mutual fund sales targets.
  • Client/advisor engagement: Present fund strategies, market views, and portfolio solutions to IFAs, relationship managers, and institutional clients; support them in client conversations and portfolio reviews.
  • Training & enablement: Conduct internal/external training sessions, product workshops, and webinars for RM/IC teams and advisors; create sales plans around “focus funds” and campaigns.
  • Market intelligence: Gather feedback from the field, share competitor and flow trends, and work with product teams to refine positioning and campaigns.
  • Compliance & documentation: Ensure all sales activities adhere to SEBI/AMFI guidelines, KYC/AML norms, and internal risk/compliance policies; maintain accurate records and reporting.

Requirements

Certifications: NISM VA certification is mandatory

Education: Graduate/postgraduate in finance, business, or related fields.

Skills: Strong relationship management, negotiation, presentation skills; comfort with sales pipelines, Excel/CRM reporting, and basic portfolio analytics.

Additional Information:

  • The tenure of the Apprentice will be 1 (one) year as defined under Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992 amended from time to time.
  • All Apprentices engaged by the Bank will also be featured in NATS portal as an ‘Apprentice’. By virtue of them being covered under the provisions of the Act, a candidate profile will be created for each apprentice in the NATS portal, which will be available to them for viewing.
  • On completion of the one-year Apprenticeship tenure, a Certificate of Proficiency will be issued to the apprentice by the Govt. of India, as applicable under the Act and the enrollment under the Apprenticeship Act will cease.
  • All other clauses regarding the tenure of engagement as an Apprentice with HSBC will stand as mentioned in the offer letter issued by the Bank at the time of joining.
