Amref Health Africa (Amref) was founded in 1957 and has since grown to become the largest African-based international health development organisation; currently implementing more than 180 programmes, reaching more than 40 million people across 35 African countries; and a staff complement of over 2,000. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, Amref Health Africa has offices in ten countries in Africa – Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Guinea (Conakry), Kenya, Malawi, Senegal, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. An additional eleven advocacy and fundraising offices are in Europe and North America.

Since its establishment in Zambia, Amref has since collaborated with the Government of the Republic of Zambia in developing and implementing innovative health development programs across the country in Human Resource for Health, health financing, maternal, newborn and child health and health security. The organization has physical presence in 4 provinces and programmatic presence across the country.
Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
The Programme Intern will assist with the program operations and implementation of the assigned tasks and activities at the Country office level or TeleDoctor Zambia an organization that Amref Health Africa in Zambia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). You shall be reporting substantively to the Partnerships Lead at TeleDoctor Zambia and administratively to the Project Manager for Africa Health Collaborative (AHC) project at Amref Health Africa in Zambia.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in planning and implementation of project activities;
- Participate in preparation of work plans and progress;
- Participate in capacity building activities, field visits and meetings with relevant partners and stakeholders to strengthen networks and partnerships;
- Assist with routine monitoring and evaluation activities;
- Assist with periodic project review meetings and supervision with local stakeholders;
- Assist with preparation and timely submission of periodic project reports e.g.monthly and quarterly for internal and external purposes;
- Support identification and engagement of partners (hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, labs, corporates, NGOs);
- Assist with drafting proposals, concept notes and partnership documents;
- Conduct basic market research and stakeholder mapping;
- Support coordination of meetings, health activations and outreach activities;
- Assist in coordinating virtual consultations and referrals;
- Support onboarding of healthcare providers onto the platform;
- Help manage appointment scheduling and follow-ups;
- Assist with data entry, reporting and service quality monitoring;
- Provide first-line support via phone, WhatsApp, email, and social media;
- Assist patients with bookings, medicine delivery, and lab services;
- Handle inquiries, complaints and feedback professionally;
- Escalate clinical or operational issues appropriately;
- Assist in researching and developing health content for TV, radio and digital platforms;
- Support health interviews, reporting and documentation;
- Assist in writing summaries, health articles and post-show reports;
- Support partner acknowledgements and impact reporting using appealing graphic content;
- Support pre-production (topic research, scripting, guest coordination);
- Assist during recordings (logistics, coordination, timekeeping);
- Support post-production documentation and content archiving;
- Assist with promotion of TV shows and health campaigns;
- Assist in compiling routine operational, clinical and administrative reports;
- Support compliance with basic health systems, quality standards and internal protocols;
- Assist with inventory tracking and service utilization records;
- Online meeting hosting, Including managing calendars and virtual call/ webinar management
- Project;
- Develop and present a health solutions project;
- Deliver other duties as assigned by the Partnerships Lead and Project Manager.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing or equivalent. Academic certificates must be verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
- Recently graduated

- Monitoring and reporting skills;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure;
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact effectively with others, both internally and externally;
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
