Mercury Marine – Fond du Lac - Retail Sales, Intern

Position Overview: 

As part of the talented Retail sales team, you will support key initiatives across Retail Sales, Distributor Management, Retail Analytics, and Ecommerce Compliance. This internship offers exposure to sales strategy, market analysis, inventory optimization, promotional performance measurement, and retailer/distributor operations within a fast-paced consumer products environment. The intern will work closely with sales leaders, category managers, analytics teams, and ecommerce stakeholders to identify business opportunities, improve processes, and support data-driven decision making.

Essential Functions:  

Retail & Distributor Support

  • Assist with Land ‘N’ Sea distributor show planning and maintenance of training calendars.

  • Analyze Land ‘N’ Sea distributor programs and provide recommendations on product offerings and program enhancements.

  • Conduct competitive research to identify market trends, successful initiatives, and opportunities for program improvements.

  • Support promotional performance analysis and summarize results for stakeholders.

  • Perform competitive pricing analysis to identify market opportunities and trends.

  • Maintain and enhance internal fines tracking and reporting dashboards.

  • Partner with Category Managers to organize, update, and centralize Safety Data Sheet (SDS) documentation.

Retail Analytics

  • Collaborate with the Analytics team to support retail sales dashboard enhancements and reporting improvements.

  • Analyze retail data to identify out-of-stock conditions, inventory gaps, and SKU expansion opportunities.

  • Conduct competitive market analysis to support strategic business decisions.

AIRA / RUPP Compliance Support

  • Assist with Authorized Internet Reseller (AIRA) compliance audits and data validation activities.

  • Support seller data maintenance and cleanup efforts to improve data accuracy and reporting.

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify actionable insights.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other data visualization tools preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Interest in retail sales, distribution, ecommerce, and consumer products industries.

  • Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits

  • Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) during the the months May through December of 2027.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior intern experience.

  • Previous internship, coursework, or project experience in retail, sales, marketing, category management, eCommerce, or business analytics.

  • Marine or parts and accessories (P&A) experience.

  • Interest in the marine, powersports, outdoor recreation, or consumer products industries.

  • Project Work: The work environment is supportive, collaborative, and conducive to learning. Student co-ops or interns typically work on specific projects or tasks that contribute to the organization’s goals. This may range from supporting larger projects to handling smaller, individual assignments.  

  • Hours: Co-ops and Interns are expected to work a full 40-hour work week

  • Feedback and Performance Reviews: As a co-op or intern, you will receive feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment. We value the importance for interns to understand their progress and areas for improvement. 

The pay range for this position is $17- $27.50 per hour.  The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.  Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
