ABOUT THE ROLE 

As an Innovation Intern, you will work with the Innovation team to analyze and report on innovation projects, pilots, and new business opportunities that align with IGS Energy’s growth strategies and business initiatives. You will conduct research on the energy market and emerging technology related to residential solar and batteries, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), energy commodities, and other distributed energy resources (DERs). You will also analyze and organize findings to communicate insights that support exploration and decision-making.  

 

This internship is ideal for students who are curious about emerging technology, enjoy researching and analyzing information, and want to learn how innovation supports growth in the energy industry. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

  • Research innovation projects: Assist in researching innovation initiatives, pilots, and new technology, business opportunities related to residential solar and batteries, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), energy commodities, distributed energy resources (DERs), and more.  

  • Analyze research findings: Gather, organize, and review data/information to identify key themes and insights. 

  • Present your work: Prepare research findings and supporting materials to share with the Innovation team. 

  • Build industry knowledge: Learn and grow your understanding of the energy industry, business trends, and emerging opportunities. 

  • Support continuous improvement: Contribute ideas, develop new tools, and explore better ways of doing business. 

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Environment/Natural Resources or a related field 

  • Solid Excel skills – comfortable with VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, advanced formulas, and basic financial or business case modeling 

  • Genuine passion about the energy industry. Previous energy experience or related coursework is a plus 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail 

  • Exceptional organizational skills and basic document management skills 

  • Technology aptitude and a willingness to learn new tools and better ways of doing business 

  • A positive attitude, self-motivation, and a results-oriented approach 

  • The ability to adapt, grow, and thrive in an evolving work environment

Salary Range:

$31,200.00 - $62,400.00

*This range reflects base pay only. Incentive earnings, like commissions or bonuses, are not included.
