The Real Estate Analytics, Research, & Governance (ARG) team is responsible for capturing and maintaining all data derived from the real estate portfolio – and turning that into meaningful analytical insights to make informed investment decisions. The team provides a strategic research lens to the investment team and is responsible for investment process governance practices to ensure strong decision-making. ARG has full coverage of the global real estate portfolio. As the Student, Real Estate, you will have gained a working knowledge of Canadian and Foreign Real Estate Investment Portfolios.

Responsibilities:

  • Collecting and maintaining investment and portfolio-level data across the Canada, US, and European regions.
  • Conducting analysis on the existing portfolio to understand various risk metrics and exposures.
  • Observing the real estate investment committee and learning investment process governance.
  • Participating in several ad-hoc projects to gain working knowledge of AIMCo’s real estate asset class.
  • Contributing to the maintenance and accuracy of internal real estate management systems (YARDI)
  • Creating Real Estate Investment charts/tables for Portfolio presentations

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Undergraduate Student enrolled in Commerce/Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science with a passion for Real Estate
  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of Real Estate would be considered an asset
  • Thrives under pressure and enjoys contributing to team goals and collaborating
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

Success Measures:  

Success at the end of your term will be determined by the undertaking and completion of specified daily tasks while collaborating with the team, sharing your ideas, and contributing to ongoing projects. You will take advantage of your summer at AIMCo by building connections across the organization.
