Job Description

Role Overview:

We are looking for a motivated Electrical or Computer Engineering intern to join our team, focusing on the evaluation and validation of next-generation Distribution Management System (DMS) applications. In this role, you will play a key part in bridging the gap between innovative software development and real-world grid operations. You will evaluate new applications, ensure they meet industry deployment standards, identify technical defects, and help educate our user base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Evaluation: Perform hands-on testing of new Distribution Management applications to assess their functionality, reliability, and integration capabilities within our existing power system environments.
  • Test Development: Design and build comprehensive test cases to validate application performance, edge cases, and user requirements, ensuring all new features meet rigorous quality standards.
  • Deployment Feasibility: Analyze software requirements to determine if new applications can be deployed using standard industry tooling, specifically leveraging GitOps principles and ArgoCD for automated deployments within Linux-based environments.
  • Quality Assurance & Debugging: Actively "stress test" new products by identifying, documenting, and tracking bugs. You will work closely with development teams to verify fixes and ensure a seamless end-user experience.
  • Technical Documentation: Translate complex software features into user-friendly training materials, including technical guides, how-to videos, and internal knowledge-base articles to assist grid operators and engineers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Fundamental understanding of electric power distribution systems.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a passion for software quality.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills; ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Technical Skills & Tooling:

  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in Linux (command-line navigation, shell scripting, and system troubleshooting).
  • Programming: Proficiency or strong interest in C#.
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Familiarity with Jenkins for continuous integration and pipeline automation.
  • Artifact Management: Experience with Nexus for managing software components and dependencies.
  • Deployment: Exposure to or willingness to learn GitOps workflows and ArgoCD for Kubernetes-native deployment management.
