About the Role
Job Title - Credit Associate Reports To - Credit Analyst/Head, Credit Employment Type - Internship Location - Maryland Job Summary The Credit Associate will support the credit team in assessing loan applications, conducting credit checks, reviewing customer information and documentation, and monitoring loan portfolios. Key Responsibilities 1. Credit Assessment & Analysis * Review and assess loan applications in line with the company's credit policy and approval criteria. * Analyse applicants' financial information, transaction history, income, cash flow, repayment capacity, and other relevant data. * Conduct credit checks and review available credit bureau reports and other relevant verification reports. * Identify potential credit risks, inconsistencies, red flags, and signs of fraudulent activity. * Prepare clear credit assessments and recommendations for review and approval. * Ensure all credit decisions are supported by relevant data and documentation. 2. Loan Processing & Documentation * Review submitted loan documents to ensure they are complete, accurate, and valid. * Verify customer information and supporting documents where required. * Ensure approved loans meet all pre-disbursement conditions before escalation for disbursement. * Follow up on outstanding documentation and conditions precedent to disbursement. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date credit records. 3. Portfolio Monitoring * Monitor assigned loan accounts and identify accounts showing early signs of delinquency or increased credit risk. * Track repayment performance and flag overdue accounts to the appropriate team. * Support the preparation of portfolio reports and credit performance updates. * Monitor key credit indicators, including repayment behaviour, delinquency, and portfolio quality. * Escalate unusual account activity or emerging risks promptly. 4. Collections & Recovery Support * Support the collections team with relevant customer and loan information required for recovery activities. * Review delinquent accounts and provide insights that may support recovery strategies. * Follow up on agreed repayment arrangements and update relevant records. * Escalate persistent or high-risk delinquent accounts in line with the company's escalation process. 5. Risk & Compliance * Ensure all credit activities comply with the company's credit policies, procedures, and approval limits. * Maintain confidentiality of customer and financial information. * Identify and report suspected fraud, misrepresentation, or policy breaches. * Ensure proper documentation and audit trails are maintained for all credit decisions. * Stay informed about changes to internal credit policies and applicable regulatory requirements. 6. Reporting & Administration * Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly credit reports as required. * Maintain accurate records of loan applications, approvals, rejections, and disbursements. * Support the Credit Manager/Analyst with portfolio analysis and other credit-related reports. * Participate in credit review meetings and provide relevant updates on assigned accounts. * Perform other credit-related duties assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications & Experience * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. * 0–2 years of experience in credit, lending, financial services, banking, fintech, or a related field. * Fresh graduates with strong analytical and numerical skills are encouraged to apply. * Relevant professional certifications or ongoing certification in credit, finance, accounting, or risk management will be an advantage.
