As a Geotechnical Engineering Student (Co-op) at EXP, you’ll gain practical exposure to geotechnical and environmental fieldwork while supporting a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects. This is a great role for students studying civil engineering, environmental engineering, geoscience, or related fields who want real-world field experience.
 

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Conduct soil compaction testing using a soil density gauge 
  • Perform concrete field tests (slump, air content) and cast concrete test cylinders 
  • Observe asphalt placement and conduct sampling and compaction testing 

 

What your experience looks like

  • Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences or related program 
  • Interest in construction, geotechnical testing, or environmental fieldwork 
  • Ability to problem-solve and think proactively on site 
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting drawings/specifications (training provided) 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with contractors and team members 
  • Solid report writing and attention to detail 
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to job sites 
  • Physically able to lift/carry equipment such as soil density gauges and concrete cylinders

The hourly range for this role is between $21 - $23. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
