As a Geotechnical Engineering Student (Co-op) at EXP, you’ll gain practical exposure to geotechnical and environmental fieldwork while supporting a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects. This is a great role for students studying civil engineering, environmental engineering, geoscience, or related fields who want real-world field experience.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Conduct soil compaction testing using a soil density gauge
- Perform concrete field tests (slump, air content) and cast concrete test cylinders
- Observe asphalt placement and conduct sampling and compaction testing
What your experience looks like
- Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences or related program
- Interest in construction, geotechnical testing, or environmental fieldwork
- Ability to problem-solve and think proactively on site
- Comfortable reading and interpreting drawings/specifications (training provided)
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with contractors and team members
- Solid report writing and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to job sites
- Physically able to lift/carry equipment such as soil density gauges and concrete cylinders

The hourly range for this role is between $21 - $23. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
