POSITION SUMMARY 

Enhances the quality of life for our members and team members by meeting or exceeding service expectations. The Special Services Intern will support the Special Services Department by assisting with daily administrative, payment processing, card services, ACH, wire, and account maintenance activities. This position provides hands-on experience in financial institution operations while developing knowledge of regulatory requirements, operational procedures, and member service support functions. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Card Services Operations – Review and process eligible fraud and non-fraud dispute write offs within established authority limits and in accordance with MasterCard rules, Regulation E, Regulation Z, NCUA regulations, and internal procedures. Process expedited replacement card requests, process authorized user card requests through Synapsys workflow, process and document returned debit and credit cards, assist with dispute cancellations and card maintenance activities, conduct card-related research, and research and resolve cardholder inquiries, dispute-related exceptions, and other card operational requests. 

• Payment Operations – Verify ACH files for accuracy and completeness, process Online Banking (OLB) returns and ACH origination exception items, research ACH inquiries, and assist with ACH payoff exception reviews. Support Outgoing Wire processing. Perform FM Journal and ARCU audit reviews and conduct account research and verification. Process vendor payoff requests, support loan maintenance and repossession activities, research check images and payment history, assist with account investigations and documentation requests, process Synapsys workflow requests, respond to departmental email requests, prepare and distribute department mail. 

• Adapts to new technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, and effectively integrates them into daily workflows to support organizational goals. 

• Performs other duties as assigned. 


PROGRAM AND STRUCTURE 

• Orientation - All interns will participate in an orientation session, which will cover the Credit Union’s history, values, policies and work expectations. Interns will be introduced to their department and team members 

• Mentorship - Each intern will be paired with a mentor or supervisor who will guide them through the internship, providing support, feedback and career development advice.

 • Projects and Tasks - Interns will be assigned specific projects, tasks, and responsibilities based on business needs and when possible, aligned with their academic studies and career goals. 


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS 

EDUCATION: High school diploma. 

EXPERIENCE: Able to communicate effectively and tactfully with employees both orally and in writing. Demonstrate critical thinking and being self-reliant to better analyze and solve problems.
