Location: Monterey Park, CA 91754
We are currently looking for a Foster Care Social Worker (FCSW) Intern to join our Foster Care team. The internship program is designed to provide college students with the opportunity to learn more about their chosen career path in fields such as development, marketing, public relations, human resources, education, social work and other program areas. The FCSW Intern will provide supplemental assistance to the assigned Treatment Social Worker; the supplemental assistance includes, but is not limited to, visitations, documentation, home studies, treatment planning, family reunification services and other related duties. The FCSW Intern will be responsible for:
- Providing support for helping children and families create a better future in line with the values, mission and treatment philosophy of Trinity Youth Services.
- Performing supplemental written needs assessments, in coordination with the assigned Treatment Social Worker; may assist in the development of child’s treatment plans and their updates. These assessments will be completed according to licensing and agency standards.
- Reporting any actual or suspected child abuse or special incident reports (both telephonic and written) to appropriate persons and/or licensing and placing agencies.
- Assist in recruitment and selection of resource parents and in-service training for resource parents.
- Be available and accessible to work a flexible schedule as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Obtain and maintain the appropriate business/professional licenses and/or certifications as required by Trinity’s contracting entities, licensing bodies and/or the Agency’s programmatic needs, and provide evidence of such to his/her supervisor.
Skills/Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in a Master’s program in a Human Service related area of study. Bachelor level FCSW Interns can be accepted; however the scope of the duties will be slightly different than a master’s level intern.
- Must possess accuracy and speed in typing, data entry, also accurate spelling, grammar, punctuation, and correct English usage skills and be detail oriented.
- Ability to accurately proofread, edit and verify the accuracy of a variety of documents.
- Have knowledge and ability to use modern office methods and practices, including filing systems, letter and report writing techniques/formats, and standard office equipment operation.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers, including Email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in English. Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license; a clean DMV record, be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and be insurable by Trinity’s insurance carrier. Must be able to pass a physical examination; drug clearance; criminal background check; Child Abuse Index check.
- Must have the ability to physically supervise, confront, and observe children.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds of weight, and possess the body flexibility to perform the following: bending, reaching, stooping, standing, walking, driving, for extended periods of time, and must be physically able to sit and to operate a computer and/or other office equipment for extended periods of time.
