We are looking for a highly motivated RDSS intern to join our System Software team focused on diagnostics and validation for next-generation NVIDIA GPU products. In this role, you will help develop software-based validation and debug solutions used on GPU boards, servers, and racks, and support their integration into manufacturing and datacenter workflows. The work sits at the intersection of system software, hardware validation, automation, and triage, with strong collaboration across hardware, firmware, operations, and manufacturing teams.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and enhance system software diagnostics that validate GPU platforms across areas such as power, thermal, memory, PCIe, NVLink, and system-level behavior.

  • Build stress tests, validation utilities, and automation that provide clear pass/fail criteria, structured logs, telemetry, and error codes to improve failure attribution.

  • Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams on L6, L10, and L11 tests, and help integrate diagnostic coverage into manufacturing and validation flows with practical test scope, runtime, sequencing, and debug visibility.

  • Investigate failures across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries; analyze logs and platform behavior to identify root causes and improve test coverage or debug signals.

  • Contribute to tools, documentation, and workflows that make bring-up, regression, and production validation more efficient for internal teams and external partners.

What we need to see

  • Pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Project, research, or coursework experience in system software, platform validation, diagnostics, embedded software, or low-level Linux development.

  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, or Python, with solid fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.

  • Familiarity with Linux-based development, scripting, debugging, and log analysis for hardware-adjacent software.

  • Understanding of computer architecture and operating system fundamentals, with interest in how hardware, firmware, and software interact in complex systems.

Ways to stand out from the crowd

  • Hands-on experience with validation tools, factory-style test flows, lab automation, or datacenter system bring-up.

  • Experience building structured logging, telemetry, reporting, or automated triage utilities.

  • Exposure to server architecture, PCIe, accelerator systems, or high-speed interconnects.

  • Experience using AI-assisted tools for log analysis, test generation, debugging, or developer productivity.

  • Self-motivated and curious, with strong ownership and a willingness to work across teams to solve ambiguous system-level problems.
