Description
Martin/Martin, Inc. is searching for outstanding engineering students to join our Structural Engineering Group as summer interns at our Kansas City, MO office. This opportunity will focus mainly on new building structural design, but interns may also have the chance to gain experience in technical research, renovation of existing buildings, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
During a typical work week, interns work on engineering calculations, developing drawings, visiting sites, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and supporting internal technical projects.

The Team
Our structural engineering teams provide custom solutions for new constructions and expansions both in Kansas City and nationally, with a strong record in notable projects like Coors Field, the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, and Harborcenter.
Responsibilities
- Completes simple engineering calculations and models
- Prepares presentations
- Performs research and special studies
- Data entry
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Civil or Architectural Engineering, having completed at least a junior-level program
- High school diploma
- Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Ability to commute and attend programming in the work location where the Internship is based (Kansas City, MO)
- Ability to work in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook
- Attention to detail
- Eager to learn
- Ability to work independently and ask questions as needed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired
- Structural engineering-specific experience
- Structural engineering coursework
- Completed Bachelor’s degree
Working Conditions, Skills and Abilities
This position is technical in nature, working mostly inside of the office completing a wide range of activities. The following abilities are required:
- Completing repetitive movement on tasks such as using a mouse or keyboard
- Remain stationary for long periods of time
- Read, communicate, and document in English
- Identify color
- Determine and exchange accurate information
- Occasionally move about outside of the office
- Occasionally move or hold objects weighing up to 25 pounds
