About the Role

Description

Compass Systems is seeking motivated students interested in participating in our Production Technician Co-Op Program. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn about manufacturing, assembly, electronics, and production operations while working alongside experienced technicians and manufacturing professionals.


Students will receive on-the-job training and gain practical experience using tools, equipment, processes, and documentation commonly used in a manufacturing environment.


This position requires a hands-on individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with engineering and production teams to support a variety of technical projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes pride in hands-on work, and brings a positive attitude to a production team environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform assembly of electronic and mechanical components according to technical drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Operate production equipment and tools used in manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of assemblies and systems.
  • Support prototype builds and engineering development projects.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production staff to resolve technical issues and improve processes.

Requirements

We are looking for students who are:

  • Currently enrolled in high school and eligible to participate in a school co-op program.
  • Interested in manufacturing, engineering, electronics, skilled trades, or technology.
  • Dependable and willing to learn.
  • Comfortable working with their hands and learning how to use tools.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to producing quality work.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
  • Safety-conscious and willing to follow all workplace safety requirements.
  • Professional, respectful, and eager to gain real-world work experience.
  • Able to obtain and maintain any required Pennsylvania working papers, employment certificates, or other documentation required for employment. 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to learn and apply new information and/or skills. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Other requirements:

  • Occasionally will need to lift/and or move up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
  • Work in moderate environment temperature and noise level.
  • Regularly work around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
