Responsibilities

Join the State Farm intern team to gain real-world experience in finance, financial planning & analysis, and procurement. We are seeking motivated and driven interns to join our dynamic Financial Operations department for an exciting internship experience. Individuals selected for the internship will get the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and collaborate across multiple teams in Financial Operations while gaining impactful hands-on learning opportunities at a Fortune 50 company!

While developing your professional talents by completing challenging work assignments during the internship, you will be generating and influencing business results.  You'll have the opportunity to participate in events learning about the insurance business, State Farm, various business functions, and more as you develop throughout the summer.  You'll also benefit from our strong mentoring focus through mentoring with executive leadership, intern alumni, and more!
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
During the internship, you will work on a wide range of projects across multiple teams, gaining exposure to different areas of our Financial Operations team. You may have the opportunity to:
•    Analyze financial and operational data and present business insights and recommendations to leadership
•    Review and improve financial operations processes and procedures
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including those specializing in a variety of financial, accounting, data analytics, mathematics, money movement, operations, enterprise technology, procurement, and business strategy disciplines
•    Develop forecasting models, perform cost/benefit analyses, and evaluate business performance measures
•    Create impactful visualizations using tools such as Power BI and Excel, and participate in the storytelling
•    Perform statistical analyses to uncover patterns, correlations, and insights within financial and operational datasets
•    Assist with sourcing strategies, supplier evaluation, contract & spend analysis, and procurement process improvements
•    Analyze, document, and recommend updates and changes to reporting and process flows
 
Intern work topics may include: 
•    Competitor and industry trend analysis
•    Creating visualizations using Power BI and other platforms
•    Cost/benefit analysis
•    Implementing process enhancements
•    Enterprise planning and budget analysis
•    Performance and operational analysis
•    Financial results reporting and forecasting
•    Claims and underwriting analytics
•    Organizational incentives and measurements
•    Market research 
•    Pricing and spend analysis
•    Exposure to contract drafting and redlining

 

Summer Internship Dates: 6/2/2027 -8/11/2027

Hours: Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week

Due to the short duration of the summer program, it is an expectation that hired interns will be available for the duration of the summer internship with little to no disruption in work schedule.

Pay: $28.00/hr.  In addition, interns selected for our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend!

Work Arrangement: Selected interns should plan to spend time working from home and 2-3 days a week working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment. Please note that relocation benefits will not apply.

Qualifications

Skills and qualifications may vary by role.

 

•    Minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 (overall and in major) 
•    Pursuing degree in Finance, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field(s)
•    Must be enrolled in at least one course through the completion of the internship and preferred completion of degree pathway and employment eligible within 1-2 years of the internship
•    Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including advanced formulas and automation techniques
•    Experience in data visualization, including tools like Power BI
•    Strong written and verbal communication
•    Learning agility and adaptability to work across multiple teams
•    Teamwork
•    Critical thinking and analytical problem solving
•    Initiative and curious mindset
