Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a current degree-level student to join our Smart Buildings team in Lisboa, Portugal, as an Intern in MEP Engineering. This role offers an excellent opportunity to start your professional career within a global consultancy, working alongside experienced engineers on a range of building projects across sectors including logistics, residential, retail, office and data centres.

As part of the team, you will support MEP engineers with technical due diligence, project monitoring, design consultancy and the preparation of technical documentation for different building assets. You will;

  • Support MEP engineers in technical due diligence, project monitoring and design consultancy activities.
  • Assist in collecting and reviewing technical documentation, drawings and maintenance information.
  • Help identify potential technical risks or issues in existing building systems.
  • Contribute to technical reports, presentations and project documentation.
  • Support the preparation of maintenance and CapEx recommendations based on senior engineers’ inputs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and help coordinate with clients, contractors and other consultants.
  • Learn about current energy efficiency and sustainability practices applied to building services.
  • Participate in internal meetings and site visits as part of your training and development.

Qualifications & Experience:

You will be currently studying towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree student in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or similar field. This internship can be curricular or extra curricular. In addition you will demonstrate:

  • Good understanding of basic MEP concepts (HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, fire protection).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with AutoCAD or other technical software.
  • Professional level of English (reading and writing). Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
  • Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Curiosity and motivation to learn from MEP engineers.
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Team spirit and good communication skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality work and continuous improvement.
  • Enthusiasm for innovation and sustainable engineering.
