Media Relations Intern

Internship Description/Learning Objectives:

 

Assist with the digital marketing and messaging of opportunities offered by the Metropolitan Action Commission for area youth through storytelling, public relations, and social media. Uphold the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Metro Action including internal and external customer service, teamwork and treatment of all persons with respect, dignity and compassion.

Job Duties:

 

  • Under supervision, social media and content creation/marketing tasks such as assistance in managing our social platforms

  • Assist with development of employability-focused opportunities and resources for young people.

  • Strong writing, verbal communication and teamwork skills

  • Monitor social media accounts daily to ensure we are providing timely and appropriate replies and interaction with our followers

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Preferred Competencies:

 

  • Proficient in Social Media skills required; will train on organization-level social media, but must have a working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • An advanced understanding of public relations, social media, and its purposes and tools preferred including video and audio production
  • An interest in social media marketing, government and/or non-profits and communications preferred
  • Attention to detail and copywriting skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent work ethic and dedication

Monday – Friday 9:00am – 3:30pm

Not to exceed 20 hours weekly.

The work environment involves the everyday risks or discomforts that require normal precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, and training rooms, etc.

If you are selected for YEP Internship as a Work Team Member, you will make $18.00 an hour.
