About the Role

Tax Season Intern – 2028

Bloomington, MN | January – Mid-April 2028

BGM is looking for motivated, curious, and service-minded accounting students to join our 2028 Tax Season Internship Program in Bloomington, MN.

We intentionally offer internships during our busiest time of year because we believe the best way to learn public accounting is to be part of the work when it is happening. From January through mid-April, our interns work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to real client engagements, and gain hands-on experience in both tax and assurance.

You won't just observe from the sidelines. You'll be part of the team.

Throughout your internship, you'll work with team members at different levels across BGM who will help you learn, answer questions, provide feedback, and give you a better understanding of what a career in public accounting can look like.

What You'll Do

As an intern, you will have opportunities to:

  • Assist with audits, reviews, compilations, and other assurance engagements
  • Prepare individual and business tax returns alongside members of our tax team
  • Assist with tax research and special projects
  • Gather, organize, and analyze client information
  • Support multiple client engagements and communicate progress, questions, and findings with your team
  • Gain exposure to clients across a variety of industries
  • Build your technical accounting and tax knowledge through hands-on experience and training
  • Work directly with professionals at different levels of the firm, including experienced accountants, managers, and partners
  • Develop the communication, organization, and problem-solving skills needed for a successful career in public accounting

And because we view our internship program as an important part of building our future team, successful interns may be considered for future internship or full-time opportunities with BGM based on performance, career goals, and business needs.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for students who are ready to learn, contribute, and experience what it's really like to work in public accounting.

Our ideal intern:

  • Is pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
  • Maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Is working toward meeting the 150-credit requirement for CPA licensure
  • Is generally in their junior or senior year, or has similar academic standing

  • Has experience working with customers, clients, or others in a service-oriented environment
  • Is able to work approximately 55 hours per week during peak periods of the internship
  • Is able to work in our Bloomington, MN office throughout the internship
