Construction Management Intern

 

Location: Various Bilfinger North America Sites  

Duration: 12-week summer internship  

Eligibility: Junior or senior college students pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, or a related field  

GPA Requirement: Minimum GPA of 3.0  

Visa Sponsorship: No U.S. visa sponsorship available  

Travel Requirement: Must be mobile and available for travel as needed  

 

Overview

Bilfinger North America is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Construction Management Interns to join our team. This internship provides a structured, site-based learning experience, allowing interns to immerse themselves in the project and construction management environment. Participants will engage in a blend of onboarding, field exposure, practical project support, mentor coaching, and self-paced learning.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Onboarding & Site Orientation: 

  • Complete HR onboarding and site safety orientation, including introductions to the project team and an overview of expectations.

Safety & Quality Assurance:

- Understand and adhere to Bilfinger’s safety culture and project-specific quality standards.

 

Construction Management Fundamentals: 

- Learn about the project lifecycle, documentation processes, and core responsibilities in construction management.

 

Field Exposure: 

- Shadow CMs, PMs, and site leaders to observe daily operations, planning discussions, and project meetings.

 

Applied Project Work:

- Participate in a defined site-based project or process improvement task, contributing to real project needs under mentor guidance.

 

Self-Paced Learning: 

- Complete online training covering safety awareness, construction management basics, and professional development.

 

Mentoring and Feedback:

- Attend regular check-ins with supervisors and mentors to receive feedback and guidance throughout the internship.

 

Learning Outcomes:

 

By the end of the internship, interns will:

- Understand Bilfinger’s safety culture and operational procedures.

- Be able to articulate how safety, quality, cost, and customer expectations are interconnected in project management.

- Gain practical experience in construction management responsibilities and real-time project execution.

- Develop a capstone project that reflects their learning and contributions during the internship.

 

Qualifications

 

Education: Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, or a related field.

GPA: Minimum of 3.0.

Skills:

  - Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  - Reliability and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

  - Willingness to learn and adapt.

 

Travel: Must be mobile and ready to travel as required for site assignments.
