PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT 

Serves as a Tax Accounting Intern under the direction of the Retail Tax Compliance Supervisor for the Summer of 2027. Supports financial analysis, business planning, and operational improvement initiatives while gaining exposure to multiple areas of the business. Assists with data analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and technology projects that drive informed decision-making and business growth. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

Assist with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities. 

 

Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, efficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. 

 

Support projects related to profitability, cost management, and business performance. 

 

Assist with financial system implementations and technology improvement initiatives. 

 

Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for leadership teams. 

 

Participate in facility visits to gain an understanding of operations and business performance. 

 

Collaborate with employees across multiple departments and locations. 

 

Build professional relationships with employees, customers, and industry partners. 

 

Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

Preferred candidates are pursuing a degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Business, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field from a 4-year university and are in good academic standing at the start of the internship, with the status of at least a second-semester junior or first-semester senior at the time the internship begins. (i.e., Juniors going into their Senior year qualify, but students graduating before the start of their internship do not).    

 

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills. 

 

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and interest in financial analysis. 

 

Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 

 

Interest in business strategy, financial planning, and operational improvement. 

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.  

 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS 

Participate in all GROWMARK Internship Program activities and meetings. 

 

Ability to work a minimum of 12 weeks over the Summer, starting May 24, 2027, at the latest. 

 

Attend three required internship events:  

  • May 24-25, 2027: Orientation Meeting (Bloomington, IL) 

  • June 28-30, 2027: Mid-Summer Meeting (Location TBD) 

  • August 11-12, 2027: Conclusion Meeting (Bloomington, IL) 

 

Actively participate in mentoring, networking, and professional development opportunities. 

 

Complete and present a summer internship project. 

 

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel, including occasional overnight travel. 

 

Ability to complete required training and comply with company policies and procedures.
