About the Role

Forestry Operations Intern, Timmins, Ontario 

Ready to take what you’re learning in school and put it to work? At Interfor, we’re looking for future leaders who are curious, hands-on, and eager to learn. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, build practical skills, and gain a better understanding of how people, equipment, technology, and processes come together in a modern manufacturing environment. If you enjoy solving problems, learning how things work, and looking for better ways to get the job done, this could be the summer opportunity for you! 

This is an on-site internship with an anticipated start date in May. Ideally, you’ll be available for a 4- to 8-month term. 

What We Offer

  • Salaries starting from $3,350 per month (based on your year in school and previous experience).
  • Temporary living allowance for interns moving to the area for the role.

What You’ll Do

  • Gain hands-on experience supporting both forestry operations and sustainable forest management activities.
  • Explore how harvesting, forest planning, silviculture, and mill operations work together to support the wood products supply chain.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze field or operational data to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Use GPS, mapping tools, and operational information to support forestry and production-related projects.
  • Collaborate with forestry professionals, contractors, and operations teams while gaining exposure to both field and manufacturing environments.

What You Offer

  • You are working toward a degree or diploma in Forestry, Forestry Operations, Wood Products Processing, Operations Management, Engineering, Natural Resources, or another related program.
  • You are committed to maintaining a safe work environment without compromise.
  • You enjoy both outdoor fieldwork and working with data, technology, and operational processes. (Suggested combined wording based on both roles.)
  • You are comfortable using Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with GIS or GPS technology is an asset.
  • You communicate clearly and enjoy collaborating with employees, contractors, and teams across different areas of the business.
  • You have a valid driver's licence and are prepared to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel over uneven terrain when required.
