Major Accountabilities:

  • Assists in implementing systems to meet safety regulations/performance for refinery production facility.
  • Assists in implementation of process and procedures to maintain compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations and permits under OSHA, TTB, FRA, EPA and state DENR.
  • Assists in implement facility’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP), Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), and Risk Management Plan (RMP). 
  • Assists in completing multi-media responsibility for task driven commitments. 
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining relationship with local fire departments and response organizations to facilitate their participation in the Facility Response Plan. 
  • Assists in maintaining and ensuring implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM). 
  • Assists in ensuring implementation of Safe Work Practices (SWP), including providing training and making required changes.
  • Assists in implementing site security plan.

San Antonio, TX – Valero Headquarters
Sunray, TX - McKee Refinery
Three Rivers, TX - Three Rivers Refinery

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.



  • Currently pursuing bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in Fire Protection & Safety Engineering Technology, Occupational Safety and Health, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety Sciences, required.
  • Overall GPA of 3.2 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale, preferred.
  • Graduation dates of August 2027 through May 2029, required.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, required. 
  • Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required.
