MSE Internship – Social Media & Digital Content
Six-month internship, full-time, paid (London Real Living Wage) | Planned start: October/November 2026
About the internship
MoneySavingExpert (MSE) is launching a paid, full-time, six-month internship scheme, and we're looking for aspiring journalists, content creators and social media storytellers. You'll join a busy, purpose-driven media organisation that always puts the consumer first, helping people save money and campaigning on their behalf for financial justice.
The program will embed you within our editorial teams, giving you hands-on experience of writing and publishing stories and creating content across articles, social media and video formats. Your work could reach an audience of more than 10 million people each month.
If you're passionate about storytelling, social media, journalism, making complex ideas easy to understand and fighting consumers' corner, we'd love to hear from you.
What we're looking for
This internship is designed for someone with passion, curiosity and potential who wants to gain hands-on experience. If you're excited about the opportunity but don't meet every requirement, we'd still love to hear from you. We care more about your enthusiasm and willingness to learn than a perfect match to every criterion.
We know that some groups remain underrepresented in journalism and the wider media industry, and we're committed to creating more opportunities for people from a broad range of backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, while emphasising that this opportunity is open to everyone.
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate a genuine interest in journalism, social media, and digital content creation, particularly vertical video.
That interest could be demonstrated through any of the following:
A recent graduate in journalism, media, communications and related subjects.
A recent graduate in any other subject, with a clear interest in journalism, social media or content creation.
Having equivalent experience gained outside formal education.
Publishing content through a university or school publication, local media outlet, website, community project or workplace.
Creating content through your own social media channels, blogs, newsletters, podcasts, or videos.
Producing content in any format that demonstrates curiosity, creativity, and clear communication.
You don't need experience in all these areas. We're interested in your potential, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
What is essential, is that;
You must have full right to work in the UK
You can commute to London; the role is hybrid, spending 2 days per week in our Soho office
You’re available to start in the role from the end of October
You’re available to work full time (37.5 hours a week)
The qualities that will help you thrive
Enthusiasm for social media, digital content, and consumer-focused journalism.
Curiosity and an interest in learning how to turn complex subjects into engaging, accessible content.
A proactive approach and willingness to seek out opportunities to learn.
The confidence to contribute ideas and collaborate with others.
An interest in developing skills in vertical video and multi-channel storytelling.
Some experience of working with a team, whether through education, volunteering, a part-time role, a community project or an office environment, would be helpful but isn't essential.
You'll have the opportunity to learn from some of the UK's leading financial journalists and content creators.
How to apply
Please submit your CV and a short cover letter of no more than 500 words. Tell us why you're interested in the internship, what has sparked your passion for media, journalism or digital content, and how the opportunity fits with your future goals.
We'd also welcome examples of journalism or digital content you've produced. These might be from your own channels, a portfolio, a blog, a publication, a podcast, or a video platform. If you have examples, please include links with your application. Examples are welcomed, but we understand that not everyone will have the same access to opportunities.
Thinking of applying? If you're excited about the opportunity but aren't sure you tick every box, we'd still love to hear from you.
