Do you like exciting technical challenges and connecting with people from different Background? Are you interested in AI development, structural analysis, and simulations? If your answer is yes, then this is the job for you. 

The successful candidate will join the Structures Nonlinear Simulation & Virtual Testing department, a team of around 30 highly skilled engineers across 6 Airbus sites, and will work within the multidisciplinary team in the UK, focusing on the future of structural analysis solutions.

Nonlinear Simulation & Virtual Testing is a team in Airbus using nonlinear Finite Element Method (FEM) for detailed structural analysis. Meanwhile, we are exploring AI and other advanced digital solutions for structural analyses.

What you will be doing:

You will be involved in a variety of different activities, requiring you to use different skills (technical, programming, project management, communication) to be successful. You can expect:

  • Explore using AI to improve simulation process and lead time;

  • Software tool development to enable our testing and maintenance approaches using coding and scripting;

  • With our support you will acquire and hone your scripting and coding skills alongside gaining knowledge of structural testing techniques and “Virtual Testing” Simulations;

  • Learn about our aircraft, their design, manufacture and in-service support;

  • Learn more about how Structures Tests are used to develop, validate and certify Aircraft;

  • Have the opportunity to work alongside Test Engineers, Simulation Engineers, Software Engineers and to be a part of a highly skilled and welcoming Transnational team.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our dynamic team. To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering/Computer Science;
  • Experience in coding or scripting languages, Python is preferred;
  • Basic skills with Git and GitLab;
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with Finite Element Method is a plus;
  • Working with Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Large Language Model is a plus.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
