K-Star Asset Management LLC (“K-Star”) was formed in 2022 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of KKR. K-Star is a dedicated real estate credit investment services platform. From Dallas and Dublin, K-Star supports KKR’s real estate credit strategies through credit asset management, special servicing, underwriting, surveillance, and asset-backed finance. KKR Real Estate Credit was formed in January 2015 to invest in real estate credit products and complement KKR Real Estate’s private equity platforms. KKR Real Estate Credit currently invests through eight separately capitalized vehicles across our Direct Lending and Securities portfolios and consists of 120+ dedicated professionals based in New York, San Francisco, Houston and Dallas.
Position Overview:
The K-Star Asset-Backed Finance Investment Management Services (“ABF IMS”) Summer Internship Program is a 10-week internship, commencing in June 2027. This is an opportunity for you to join a leading investment services firm, during your undergraduate career. This program will provide robust learning and development opportunities. At the conclusion of the program, 2028 full-time offers may be extended to exceptional performers based on mutual interest and business needs.
Summer Interns will support K-Star’s ABF IMS team, which helps KKR fund, monitor, and service asset-backed transactions. Typical responsibilities include working with loan and collateral data, helping reconcile cash flows, assisting with investor and trustee reporting, and supporting the processes and controls that keep transactions running smoothly. Summer Interns will also be expected to participate in special projects and assignments related to the growth of the platform as deemed necessary and appropriate by their manager. With the goal of developing strong process creation and execution skills, Summer Interns must be exceptional communicators and demonstrate the ability to build strong working relationships.
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate students with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 – June 2028
- Outstanding academic record
- Genuine interest in asset-backed finance, structured credit, and investing demonstrated through coursework, clubs, or prior experience
- Comfort using AI-powered tools to improve productivity and quality of work
- Quick learner with clear intellectual curiosity and self-motivation
- Excellent communication skills
- Team-oriented
- Exceptional work ethic; strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated leadership ability
