Your Opportunity

As an Intern for Summer 2027 based in our Ann Arbor, MI office, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water resources related projects.  Our projects involve, dams and river diversions, land development, stream restoration, water and wastewater utilities, survey, and other aspects of civil engineering. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken water resources and other civil engineering courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with field work for data collection, survey, site inspections and observations.
  • Preparing spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for design reports.
  • assist in preparing design and construction plans, specifications, quantity take-offs and construction estimates.
  • Supporting Project Managers with various tasks to advance and track project progress.
  • This internship is with the local Water Resources group, but there may be opportunities to assist in other disciplines in the office such as Transportation Engineering, Municipal Engineering, and Environmental Services

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Desired software applications include AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcMap/GIS
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Must have good organizational skills, be reliable, detail orientated and capable of working independently on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction. 

Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program for Civil and/or Environmental Engineering degree or other technical disciplines. #Student
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience a plus

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
